New Jersey author, Anthony Buccino will do a Zoom presentation, Saturday, September 19 to discuss his recent book, “Nutley Snapshots in Plain View.” The live program can be viewed online by registering here https://bccls.libcal.com/event/7050287! A township resident for more than four decades, Mr. Buccino has written five Nutley-based books. Born in Belleville, the Nutley resident spent 12 years editing business news copy at Dow Jones & Co. and The Wall Street Journal professional web pages. He worked for several years as an associate editor at TheStreet.com. Earlier he served as editor of The Belleville Times, and managing editor of Nutley Journal, Belleville Post, Glen Ridge Paper and Independent Press of Bloomfield.

Anthony has written in online publications about life and growing up in northern New Jersey. For five years he wrote about commuting and transit in metro New York-New Jersey. Lately, he spends time improving his camera eye and researching his next Nutley book. Anthony has presented at the Library in the past, most recently for his book, "Nutley Notables, Vol. 2."

NUTLEY NJ -- We are pleased to announce an exhibit of printed photographs by Anthony Buccino will be on display during July and August 2023, at the Nutley Free Public Library.

The exhibit, currently being curated, is expected to include photos from each of his eight (so far) full-length photo collection books. It is likely to include unpublished works from the eclectic photographer.

 5. Other Stuff Anthony continues to shoot photographs around town during his walks. There’s a Facebook page for that. He also created a Facebook group for Nutley photos, old and new. All those boxes of forgotten stuff

Trying to cut down all the boxes of stored stuff I come across many hand-written drafts of stories I wrote so long ago, and notes to stories I've yet to write.

Well, it's good to see someone else has a sense of humor about my tie. I was famous for my ties for many years. Then one day I stopped wearing ties. It wasn't like I was going out and meeting people anymore, and no one was coming to look for me, either. Plus Casual Friday just seemed to spread everywhere. 

I look at the tear sheets and photocopies and try to remember which of my books held the piece. Some of the hand-written notes are in those collected Reporter's Notebooks that I found so handy to fill as I rode the PATH or walked around during my lunch hour.

Buccino rings in new year at poetry marathon in Montclair

The Montclair Monthly Poetry Series, coordinated by Laura Boss and Maria Mazziotti Gillan, is presenting a New Year Poetry Marathon Reading on Thursday, January 8. 

This free event is from 7 p.m. to - 9 p.m. at the Montclair Public Library (auditorium), 50 South Fullerton Ave., Montclair, New Jersey.

Local poets will read a few poems each during the Marathon portion of the evening. An open reading will follow. 

Poets include: Susan Amsterdam, Susan Lembo Balik, Ron Bremner, Anthony Buccino, Linda Cronin, Gail Fishman Gerwin, Martin Golan, Jim Gwyn, Elizabeth Marchitti, Marilyn Mohr, Frank Niccoletti, Ken Ronkowitz, Bob Rosenbloom, Rachel Parker, Janet Kolstein, Elissa Gordon and D. M. Dutcher.

Buccino has published seven poetry collections.

Channeling Dad

During one Super Bowl, I spent the evening changing the door knobs on all the doors in our old house. “That,” my daughter has said for 25 years, “is why none of them close.”
 Who needs football to prove manliness? Men build stuff, use saws, hammers, nails, screwdrivers and pound nails. Me, I don’t use those electrical gadgets you find in the box stores these days. I use the hand-tools Dad left behind 33 years ago. The ones with his initials burned into the handles. He was a carpenter, and had a lot more practice, but I can still hit my left thumb pretty good....
