We are happy and thankful to welcome Anthony Buccino to discuss his recent book, "Nutley Snapshots in Plain View" via Zoom as we celebrate Library Card Signup Month this September!

New Jersey author, Anthony Buccino will do a Zoom presentation, Saturday, September 19 to discuss his recent book, “Nutley Snapshots in Plain View.” The live program can be viewed online by registering here https://bccls.libcal.com/event/7050287! Once you register, we will send you a confirmation email and then the day before the event we will send you a link to view the presentation on Zoom. 

A township resident for more than four decades, Mr. Buccino has written five Nutley-based books. Born in Belleville, the Nutley resident spent 12 years editing business news copy at Dow Jones & Co. and The Wall Street Journal professional web pages. He worked for several years as an associate editor at TheStreet.com. Earlier he served as editor of The Belleville Times, and managing editor of Nutley Journal, Belleville Post, Glen Ridge Paper and Independent Press of Bloomfield.

Anthony has written in online publications about life and growing up in northern New Jersey. For five years he wrote about commuting and transit in metro New York-New Jersey. Lately, he spends time improving his camera eye and researching his next Nutley book. Anthony has presented at the Library in the past, most recently for his book, "Nutley Notables, Vol. 2."

What's Going to Happen to My Stuff?

Whatever happened to George Carlin's stuff? 

Actually, I don't care what happened to the entertainer's stuff. His stuff was crap. My crap is stuff. He would say so himself, except he's gone, and as an atheist, probably not far. But as for me I've been thinking about my stuff as I sit here in my man cave/bunker/warehouse with about sixty of those white storage boxes full of my stuff. 

I'm not a pack rat. I've been writing for more than forty years and I don't have any notes from before 1971, more or less. So, I've got a lot of notes about stuff I wrote about, and probably a lot more notes about stuff I wanted to write about but haven't done so yet. And boxes of books that I used in my research. And more boxes of books I intend to read when I get some time. I can't bear to part with any of them.

Anthony Buccino published two collections of poetry in 2008.

Voices on the Bus collects his poems written while commuting from northeastern Essex County to Jersey City, N.J.

One Morning in Jersey City collects his poems written in and around Jersey City and sitting along the Hudson River, often at lunch time.

His poems "Hands In Socks" was named Editor's Choice in 2008 Allen Ginsberg Awards. "Ten Minutes" was Honorable Mention in 2009 Allen Ginsberg Awards.

He has written three books of essays based in and around Nutley and Belleville, N.J. He published two books of biographies of the hundreds of men from his home towns who died while in service.

You should move back to Belleville First. Next you should get your facts right. back in the day the D.A.V. gave that land to Belleville if you lived here you might know what goes on. Do what you do best go write a new book"

Dear Joe,

That's not such a crazy idea. Maybe, after I finish all these poetry books, I'll write a screenplay about Belleville politics. Will you be wearing a white hat or a black hat?

I've heard that writers have the last word. We shall see, shan't we?
