Ten Questions About The Environment

1. What I want to know is how did the dinosaurs all die under the Gulf of Mexico, in the North Sea and under so many places under the ocean? That's where the oil is, no, so that's got to be where the dinosaurs died. Look, I can understand dinosaurs dying in the middle of the desert. No water. No food. Pretty clear. But how did the dinosaurs get out in the water? Did they start swimming after some huge brine shrimp and then realize that dinosaurs don't know how to swim?

2. Why would aliens stop on planet earth? Would they use it as an example of how not to take care of your planet? Would it be like that Twilight Zone show: To Serve Man? Would our precious planet be little more than a huge slag heap to be mined for some common metal precious to aliens? Is our Milky Way galaxy some bit of cosmic dust in the cuff of a man who is dancing his way to the stars?

3. If you had gone into plastics when The Graduate hit the theaters, would you have been recycled by now?

4. Have we cleaned up all the SuperFund pollution sites in the nation? Or are we waiting for another Love Canal to rear it's ugly head?

5. Why, after all this time, have we not come up with a nicer way to slaughter our food? It's not much different than when cave men surrounded a mastodon.

6. Why is it today that we are shocked at the slaughter of the American Bison, but no one wants one running through a China shop?

7. Why is there only one Grand Canyon?

8. In more than one hundred years of commuter service, why hasn't man figured out how to get efficiently from Point A to Point B at a fair price?

9. When will pigs fly?

10. Why are there only nine questions about the environment when you were promised ten? Count again. This time, disregard the numbers.

More on FiOS Fiasco

I just found an email from our friends at FiOS Land.

Dear FiOS TV Customer,

Soon, you will see an exciting change to your FiOS TV service! You’ll be getting a new Interactive Media Guide - designed to make your TV service easier to use and more entertaining.

The new guide will provide you with rich tools to access, browse and search a wide range of multimedia content. Features include enhanced TV listings, powerful search capabilities, a new Marketplace, Video on Demand movie posters, enhanced parental controls, and more interactive applications.

And now, you can order your favorite subscription package like HBO or Cinemax with a click of your remote control! Just tune to the channel you want to watch and follow the directions to order immediately. All the channels included in the package will be available within a couple of minutes.

These features are just the beginning. You will continue to see new features and enhancements as we move forward to improve your FiOS TV Experience
.

In the Frequently Asked Questions link, one of the Q's is HOW DO I DELETE CHANNELS FROM MY CHANNEL LIST?

Folks, you ain't going to believe this answer.

Currently, the ability to filter out certain channels from your channel list is not available in the new IMG. We will provide this feature in our next software upgrade. However, you can create a favorites list by going to the Favorite Channels sub menu under Settings. Next, highlight the Add/Remove Channels sub menu and press the right arrow key to highlight the channel list. Now, go down the list and press OK to add/remove channels from your favorites list. Once your list is complete, press the exit button and you are finished. The next time you press the Favorites button on your remote, the IMG will launch, filtered with your favorite channels.

And the TV schedule only goes out 7 days. Duh!

We are currently developing an enhancement so that you can see 14 days. That will be included in a future upgrade.

Golly, I wonder which genius said, let's take something that's working fine and turn it into crap so we can tick off all these people who are sending us a big fat check each month to watch TV?

And another thing, the type on the new display is too darn small. And when you hit info, the description - which used to come up on the right hand, now appears over the show you're watching.

Phooey.

It's enough to make you curl up with a good book.

FiOS Foul Up Makes you say ARGGGHHH!

Ever wake up one morning to find someone replaced the channel guide and program information on your FiOs TV set with Russian?

Well, that's what it was like today in the crash-learning of the new options on the old buttons on our FiOs remote control.

Now, when we scan through the channels, all those hundreds of channels to which we don't subscribe, and the foreign language channels, and the I'm-not-interested-in-channels are all back and we have to scroll through previously deleted channels.

It sucks.

FiOS, for two cents I'd ....
