It could be inspiring to have a perpetual light shining down on the keyboard when I type … but this bright muse peeks through different parts of the room-darkening blinds and throughout the afternoon stabs my eyes like bayonet blades.

It's not inspiring.

It's toxic.

Prudential Center - Double Way & Bon Jovi, Too

Bon Jovi will be closing for My Chemical Romance next week at the inaugural concert series at the Prudential Center in Newark.

Everybody knows that My Chemical Romance includes brothers Gerald and Mikey Way who grew up in Belleville.

Newark is the next town south of Belleville.

That Jon Bonjovi fellow also grew up somewhere in New Jersey.

The shows, with that other Jersey guy, are Oct. 25 and Oct. 26.
Sorry, I've never been into either band, but I can tell you they will rock the Rock.
If I'm not there, start without me.

Life is the New Jersey Turnpike

I guess if anybody would know, it's the folks at AARP The Magazine.

The group's July & August 2007 issue has a story on Things To Know By 50.

Number 42 is How To Stay Married.

This article in "the world's largest circulation magazine" instructs poets to "pretend your relationship (marriage) is a road trip. Your wedding was the Holland Tunnel. Your life is the New Jersey Turnpike. Death is Philadelpia. Pretend there are no exits, only rest stops."

I've actually been to Philadelphia and I don't think it's that bad.

Now, if the Turnpike is your life, ugh, perish the thought, that might explain why so many hapless commuters drive so fast to get to Philadelphia!

The Holland Tunnel a wedding. I've been in that tunnel, and the tiles and the fumes were intoxicating, but but not in a wedding way.

I know I'll never make it as a poet now. I can't "pretend there are no exits, only rest stops."

All I can think of is going home at the end of a long day.

I thank God when it's Friday.

The pond in this view was once a quaint little pond ... but about 10 or 11 years ago some neighbors complained that there were rats running around the pond an the county later drained it ... and the only time it returns as a pond is when heavy rains arrive and the ground can't soak it all in.
