None of my classmates ever wrote back - except for one who thought I was stalking her. (Just because I said I remembered her as the prettiest girl in 8th grade and asked what ever happened to the boy whose name she used to scrawl on her notebook).
Argh! A High School PictureI got together with a HFS/neighborhood classmate. He lives in Oklahoma now, but even so, we did get together twice.
Another guy from that same picture - well I run into him once in a while, but we don't have a lot to say to each other. I do remember that he signed my senior yearbook: "Best of luck to a great kid and a so-so writer."
Some of my classmates are politicians - literally - and I run into them now and again at parades and official functions where they are on duty and I am a spectator.
One other classmate came in (15-years-apart from Pennsylvania!! Thanks, Jerry, I know you don't have a computer, but thanks anyway!) to my two book signings in Belleville.
But for the most part, I'm afraid that the older we get the less important those school years become.
The common memories are pushed to the back by more important things such as turning 50 or 51 or watching our kids grow up and out, and being the sandwich/baby boomers raising kids and worrying about aging parents (a mixed blessing, no - as someone who would otherwise be an orphan by now).
I've gone to a couple of my high school class reunions. I LIKED catching up with people whose faces sometimes changed and others never aged.
Me? I've gotten old and fat. I suppose it beats the alternate, but who knows by how much?

Classmates.com has to have a free service..nobody is firing up their VISA to see an old crackerjack schoolmates updated photo..that is why myspace is thriving and classmates keeps sending you spam mail pretending someone is actually using the service ..its pathetic..
sorry classmates.com..you need to reorganize and think of your users.
